Welcome to Shawnee Heights High School Athletics Home of the Thunderbirds!

It is an exciting time to be a Thunderbird! Shawnee Heights High School has a rich tradition of excellence and sportsmanship in athletic competition. SHHS teams compete at a high level and represent the school in a manner in which students and patrons can be proud!

Thunderbird athletic teams have placed third or better at state 50 times including 22 state championships exemplified most recently by finishing as runner-up in both softball and baseball in the spring of 2016 and winning 5A State Championships in Volleyball and Boys Basketball in the 2016-2017 school year!

In addition to team success many T-Birds have placed at state and won individual state championships and have gone on to receive athletic scholarships and state recognition. Four Shawnee Heights High School athletes have been awarded the Gatorade Kansas Player of the Year award including Dani McHenry (2000-01) and Stefine Pease (2006-07) for Volleyball, Trisa Nickoley (2003,2003, 2004) and Iain Trimble (2007) for Track, and most recently Jazz Sweet was named to the 2017 First Team Under Armour All-America Volleyball Team and Megan Cooney to the Second Team Under Armour All-America Volleyball Team. Shawnee Heights competes in 18 Varsity KSHSAA athletic activities and is a member of the Centennial League comprised of Emporia, Hayden Catholic, Highland Park, Junction City, Manhattan, Seaman, Shawnee Heights, Topeka High, Topeka West, and Washburn Rural.

On behalf of the Board of Education and USD 450 Administration I extend our gratitude to the many coaches, parent volunteers, staff members, and the Shawnee Heights Booster Club for their continued support of SHHS athletics and activities.
