Our goal at Shawnee Heights is to prepare ALL students to be career-and college-ready upon graduation. The goal of Career Pathways is to prepare students to be career-ready by completing a Pathway in high school and transitioning to post-secondary (2-year community college, technical school, 4-year college) to continue study of their respective career.

Students who complete 3.0 credits in a Career Pathway can reap the benefits of an articulated agreement between Shawnee Heights and several post-secondary institutions in Kansas. For example, if a student completes 3.0 credits in our Marketing Pathway, Washburn University will award the student 3 college credits as long as he/she enrolls at Washburn. With the climbing cost of post-secondary education, earning college credit while in high school is not only educationally advantageous but a wise financial decision.

Coming soon will be Pathways in Health Sciences, Education and Training, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). It is never too late or too early to begin researching careers and planning a possible career path. Did you know the national college graduation rate in the United States is approximately 40%? Our goal for all Shawnee Heights students is to earn a post-secondary degree. With that in mind, we feel it is very important to start finding an interest in a career and start planning your career NOW. We can help you with Career Pathways. If you are interested in Career Pathways or have questions about our Pathways, please contact Renee Murphy, Counselor This email address is being protected from spambots.
