The food service department employs thirty-nine permanent and four substitute staff members. Some have worked for the district since 1986. We are proud to say that we have little turnover. Employees usually stay until retirement. All employees must complete the Kansas Department of Education Class on Sanitation, and most are certified with the American School Food Service Association.

Berryton, Shawnee Heights Elementary, Tecumseh North, Tecumseh South, and the High School all have their own production kitchens. The High School Kitchen supplies lunch for the Middle School and the 9-12 High School.

Menus are made to meet specifications for daily food guide requirements and all USDA guidelines. HACCP procedures are also followed in all kitchens, along with the Safety Sanitation procedures. No carbonated drinks are used. Menus are also supplied with carbohydrate counts for those students that need that information because of medical reasons.

Health inspections are done twice a year and are unscheduled. These inspections at all facilities have proven over the years that cleanliness is an utmost priority for all who work in Food Service. We have never had a bad food inspection.

Find our dining menus, meal costs, and free and reduced lunch applications on our "Dining Menu" page.
