Greetings Shawnee Heights Families:

We are excited to partner with you as you being the amazing journey through education with your child! Welcome to our district and to our schools! We are here to love and support your child as they start their school career. 

We will soon have the opportunity to get to know more about your incoming kindergarten student(s)!  Children develop much knowledge prior to entering formal school. Our district will utilize the Kansas Kindergarten Readiness Snapshot, the Ages & Stages Questionnaires(ASQ), to provide a snapshot of a child’s development. These questionnaires do NOT determine eligibility or placement in kindergarten. We embrace every child with their unique abilities and talents. 

Since you know your child best, you will complete both versions of the questionnaires: the Ages & Stages Questionnaires®, Third Edition (ASQ-3) and the Ages & Stages Questionnaires®: Social-Emotional, Second Edition (ASQ:SE-2). 

This information helps our school prepare for the year, and we are in the process of getting everything ready for you to effectively complete the ASQ. We are even discussing options to possibly host a few events at our school so that we can assist you in providing us with this information about your child(ren).
