Now in its third year, Unified Field Day continues to focus on accessibility, inclusion, and making sure every student has the opportunity to participate, succeed, and feel valued. Throughout the day, students enjoyed activities designed with a wide range of accommodations and modifications, including adaptive equipment, sensory stations, adjusted-height basketball goals, larger volleyballs and soccer balls, and more.
Events like this take an incredible team effort, and we want to extend a huge thank-you to all the teachers, paras, staff members, volunteers, and organizers who helped make the day possible. Your dedication and commitment to our students helped create a day filled with joy for everyone involved.

This morning, students stepped into the role of teacher and gave staff a firsthand look at the engaging learning happening across classrooms. It was a great opportunity for teachers to see what students are learning in other classes while also being reminded of what it feels like to be a student again.
And yes, along the way, we heard a few students say, “Wait… is this what it’s like to be a teacher?!” 😄
A fun and meaningful way to learn from each other.

What truly makes Mr. Lee special is his ability to connect with students. It is not unusual to see him laughing and talking with kids as they load the bus, giving double fist bumps in the hallway, or offering words of encouragement to help brighten someone's day. Students clearly enjoy being around him, often stopping to show him their artwork or share stories, knowing they will be met with a smile and a compliment.
Mr. Lee is a hidden gem at Shawnee Heights. His positive attitude, joyful spirit, and genuine care for students make him an outstanding role model and a valued part of the Shawnee Heights family.
School Social Workers play an essential role in supporting the well-being of our students and families. They help connect students with resources, guide them through challenging situations, and work alongside staff to ensure every student has the support they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom. Their impact is seen every day in the care, advocacy, and stability they provide for our school community.
Help us thank our Social Workers for the compassion and expertise they bring to our district. Their work truly makes a difference in the lives of our students and families.
