Mrs. Wooten’s SHMS students put their writing skills to the test with a delicious challenge — crafting step-by-step instructions for making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
The twist? Mrs. Wooten followed their directions exactly as written… messy hands and all.
This hands-on lesson provided students with a fun way to practice sequencing, clarity, and detail, while illustrating the importance of clear communication.

This week, our elementary students had the chance to learn from illustrator Elizabeth Baddeley, who visited all four of our elementary schools.
She shared what it’s like to bring stories to life, from early sketches to final illustrations, and walked students through her creative process. Our students asked thoughtful, curious questions that made each session even better.
