Our Food Service staff are doing amazing things! Update to our meal distribution starting next week, Monday, March 30. Meals will be distributed on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays ONLY. You will be able to pick up meals for 2 days. To meet guidelines children must be present.


Shawnee Heights staff and parents are the BEST! Plans change and we are ready to adjust. Device pick ups and teacher parades we’re scheduled today before the “Safer at Home” order goes into place tonight at midnight. Hang in there, we’ll get through this together.




Scholastics Art and Writing awards has announced the 2020 National medalists. Brooke Matzek has won the Gold Medal AND the American Visions Award for her ceramic sculpture “Wall Pots." Congratulations Brooke!

Let's brighten our day with sunflowers and Youth Art Month. Students painted a design related to their art history discoveries on a sculpture they created.

We will start serving grab and go lunches tomorrow, March 17, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Starlite Skate Rink, Eastgate, Tecumseh United Methodist Church and Shawnee Heights High School. Feeding sites are open to all students in all attendance areas.

Reminder: Board of Education meeting tomorrow, March 16, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.
In order to increase space for social distancing the board meeting has been moved to the South Commons at the high school. the Tecumseh North Site Council presentation has been cancelled.

As of March 13, 2020, the Shawnee County Health Department has ordered all school districts in the county to suspend classroom & extracurricular activities. We have no decision on Boys and Girls Club programs at the moment and are awaiting guidance SCHD. We will keep you posted.
Last week the SHHS Choraliers sang in celebration of "Music in our Schools" month at the Capitol! The Choraliers were invited to sing by Kelly Knedler, Shawnee Heights alumnus and state chairman of Music Advocacy for the Kansas Music Educators Association.

Dr. Seuss week is being celebrated all over the district. Today older students at SHES are being showcased in a Dr. Seuss theater experience for the younger students.
National Youth Art month! Starting with Ms. Hayden's class at Tecumseh North, our artists learned about local artist Shelly Bedsaul. Colored pencils were layered to create a realistic image much like Bedsaul's work. Take a look at the process and a finished piece by Elise.




Dr. Stessman addressed high school students this morning on alcohol education.
